12-4pm Sun 11th September 2016 – Heritage Open Day and Makers Fair
Take a tour of Meersbrook Hall and hear talks by members of the Guild of St George – the organisation established by John Ruskin in 1871 to make England a happier place in which to live. Through the Guild, Ruskin founded the Ruskin Museum specifically for Sheffield’s workers. He filled it with a collection of artworks, illustrated books and minerals, all chosen to reflect his exploration of beauty.
There will also be a Makers Fair on the day to showcase current makers from Meersbrook and Heeley, organised as part of Sheffield’s Year of Making.
Come and try out various making skills – suitable for both children and adults.
